Benefits for Students Enrolled on Cornerstone programs

Outside of the classroom, our scholar programs include a mentorship program, career-related assignments, or voluntary work experience for a valuable hands-on learning experience.

Successful training applicants will receive an outstanding training and work placement that is focused on preparing scholars for a wide range of careers in Africa.

Enrolled students also have the chance to experience many culturally enriching opportunities whilst forming unique lifelong friendships, when training alongside our esteemed education and work placement partners.

The Cornerstone program objectives set out the basic principles that bind together the program, its leaders and communities we serve.

Mentorship

The Mentoring Program was designed with the help of students who have first-hand experience of leaving home to study at university abroad. This input has enabled us to create a program that helps students settle and integrate into student life easier than it was for previous generations of students.

The student mentorship program provides graduating and attending students with a variety of mentoring platforms:

A) Face-To-Face
B) Online
C) Long-Distance

This ensures that students long after leaving training are connected to - invested, knowledgeable, experienced and motivational mentors in the way that they feel most comfortable.

Confidence Building

Confidence is essential for creating a successful career in Africa. It is also essential when progressing through the program e.g. when applying for your work-based placement or working in highly competitive work environments.

Our scholarship mentorship and student preparation programmes are unique opportunities to build on individual confidence.

Our preparation programmes are unique opportunities to build on confidence throughout the year by giving you access to confident mentors that will help you prepare.

Continuous Professional Development

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is encouraged for all graduating scholars. The Cornerstone program encourages scholars to utilise a combination of approaches, ideas and techniques that will help stimulate and manage development, learning and growth as their career progresses. The focus of CPD is firmly on results – the benefits that professional development can bring you in the present moment and in our communities day-to-day in the real world.

Career Development

We encourage all of our applying and current students to make informed career decisions. People who are the most successful and satisfied in their careers have proactively determined what they want. The Cornerstone program hosts special events and expeditions to provide students in Africa with access to employers and industry information that may help students plan and make career defining decisions.

Social Inclusivity

The Cornerstone program is proud of its highly diverse recruitment throughout Africa. As a socially inclusive organisation we aim to provide opportunity to students from a variety of personal backgrounds, communities and cultures. It is crucial to the curriculum delivery that applying students and attending scholars are equally treated by their peers when exposed to cross cultural environments.

Elite Africa is not biased towards or places no favour towards no community, tribe or culture within Africa.

Wellbeing & Work Life Balance

It is essential that during this challenging journey of development, students learn to prioritise and manage their mental and physical wellbeing.

We understand that every student is different and support them with extra curricular sports and diet programs to ensure they are well prepared to perform in high performance environments.

We have a designated Wellbeing Officer and a number of initiatives, that help students from socio-economically disadvantaged communities, access support and ultimately complete their training successfully.

Support for Families

Studying for several years is a huge collective effort. Students who work with their parents or guardians on this journey as a team have a much greater chance of finishing the Cornerstone program successfully. The journey undoubtedly will have many emotional ups and downs and there will be times where students will have to dig deep to compete and dig deep to achieve.

The Cornerstone support staff are here for the parents as much as the students. To help support families and supporting guardians, Elite Africa has created a range of socially inclusive resources.

Support for Academic Study

Higher education institutions play a very important role in preparing students with additional knowledge and qualifications. We work with institutions and students to obtain feedback on program curriculum and ensure any difficulties identified are addressed in a timely manner and so students can continue to study with confidence.

Reinvesting In Africa's Future

The Cornerstone program is committed establishing numerous employment initiatives that enable employers to support scholars finding full time employment upon finishing their scholarships. We believe that by investing wisely in learn/work initiatives that work, students become confident in the program outcomes.
